Sensory

Some times we get asked to design special activity zones for children or young adults. We have built a large range of switch adapted age appropriate toys which will assist children of all ages learn “cause and effect”, that will provide them with skills that can lead to gaining independence as they grow up.

Switch Adapted Toys

Switch Adapted Toys

TADWA adapts a wide range of toys including soft animals which make a noise or move, radio controlled racing car sets, lights, fans, and radio cassettes. The toys are ideal for teaching children and young adults cause and effect. The toys can be operated by jelly bean switches or other switch adapted methods.

TADWA is able to modify a wide range of toys in many ways. We are also able to provide switch adapted mice for computer users with special needs.

Cubby House

Fun in a cubby house

This sensory activity centre was developed for a young child who could be amused by difference touch and feel sensations. It was designed by a group of volunteer RAAF Vietnam Veterans working for TADWA. The activity centre includes different surfaces and colours. The child derived much pleasure time in the activity centre and thus provided some respite for the parents.

Potting Aid

Potting Aid

This jig was made to allow clients with vision impairments to perform potting tasks. The large plastic block was mounted into a customized potting desk (so it was always in the same location). The client can then place the small rectangular and tubular pots in the appropriate holes, fill with soil, flatten with plugs (on a chain), and then insert seedlings by feel.
