Mobility

This could be assistance in the form of a wheelchair (manual or electric) or scooter, walking frame or crutches. TADWA has a range of wheelchairs including its own custom beach wheelchair and all terrain wheelchairs. All mobility aids and equipment are either new or refurbished, and can be serviced by TADWA at the request of the individual.

	Serious Outdoor action This all terrain wheelchair has mountain bike heavy duty tires to cope with gravel, sandy or rough terrain. The wheelchair is based on a donated customized Glide frame; volunteers re-spoked and balanced the wheels. This wheelchair provides opportunities for school children with disabilities to participate in camps, access bush tracks and join in the family outings without damaging their everyday wheelchair.
	Refurbished Scooter This scooter was refurbished in the TADWA workshop by technically minded volunteers. The client suffered a stroke and was severely limited in her mobility. She lives in South Hedland and went to considerable lengths, including contacting her local MLA and DSC, to gain some mobility assistance. With this scooter she is now able to move around and live in her own home and provides care for her daughter who also has a disability. TADWA thanks TNT for its assistance in transporting the scooter to South Hedland. Thanks also go to Veterans Affairs for its involvement.
	Novel Hybrid This wheelchair bike was originally designed for a young boy with spina bifida. He wanted to get out and ride a bike with his friends and family. The bike component was designed to attach to his wheelchair which provided him with postural support and allowed him to use his arms to operate the pedals. The bike is removable; it slides on and is held in place by a pin and mounting frame stays on the chair. It allowed one of our clients to cycle to the train, go into the office, detach and work at his desk.
	Eagles Fan Novel Trike This was a really old and dilapidated trike which was custom refurbished for a young Eagles fan. The team of RAAF Vietnam Veterans who worked on this went to a lot of trouble to paint and refit the trike in true West Coast Eagles style.
	Beach Wheelchair The TADWA beach wheelchair is designed to take the user directly into the water where they can float / transfer out and enjoy the aquatic experience, or just have the waves break over them. We are able to customize the fitting of the wheels to a selection of frames which best meet the support / postural needs of the user. The standard model (show in pictures is a Glide fold up wheelchair) was selected for its portability and structural rigidity
