This could include installing of hand / grab rails to ramps to bathroom modifications. Some bathrooms were not designed for when we age, and often it is a necessary to remove a bath or large shower hob to ensure individuals can stay safe in their own home.

Portable Bed Rail Assistant

These portable bed rails give the client the ability to transfer from his chair to his bed at his own home and at his daughter’s country farm where he enjoyed going to visit. It was designed to be modular, light in weight and can be broken down to fit into a station wagon for transportation. This project required some volunteer engineering, welding and metalwork skills.

Swing into the Spa

For a young girl this hoist has made all the difference. She can now enjoy the family spa at home. She enjoys the therapeutic relaxation that the spa gives her body and also be with the family at the same time. The child’s parents were experiencing difficulty transferring her into the spa from her chair. This wall mounted hoist allows her to gain easy access to the pool without the need for excessive lifting by the parents.

Up and In Hoist for wheelchair

This hoist enabled a client to independently stow his electric wheelchair in the back of his 4 wheel drive. Our skilled volunteers modified a donated hoist so that it could operate within the confines of the rear of the vehicle. The independence and freedom that this gave the client meant he could socialize and do his own shopping without having to rely on someone else for assistance. TADWA’s assistance also relieved possible injury or strain to carers back.
